Romanian Pumas in Chad?

(B2) Romania is currently studying the possibility of providing helicopters to the European Union military operation in Chad and the Central African Republic. As Teodor Melescanu, the Romanian Minister of Defence, confided to me, " we do not forget that we are manufacturers, under license, of the "best helicopter in the world", the Puma. So we are going to study this necessity very seriously…”. It is - it seems - the question of the strategic capacity of the Romanian army and also the financing of these assignments that still need to be studied. (published in Europolitics, November 2007)
