EUFOR RCA succeeds in its first generation of forces

(BRUSSELS2) General Philippe Ponties during his visit to Brussels had been discreet in front of the press on the number of men who could make up the European military force in the Central African Republic. He was right. Because on the floor above was taking place a meeting of generation of forces.

The announcements made by the military representatives of each of the Member States and of the six invited third countries could make it possible to fill the posts requested of 4 companies and part of the General Staff. This would make it possible to build the force closer to the 1000 personnel than the 500 announced, if all the announcements are kept and if solutions are found for the transport and accommodation of certain soldiers (the Georgians in particular who have requested this support) .

This force is expected to deploy from March until approximately May. All the details in the article published Thursday evening for Club members (access by subscription) (and now open to all): EUFOR RCA: the state of the forces… around 900 men?.

France, for its part, has decided to send an immediate reinforcement of 400 personnel (read: 400 more French soldiers awaiting EUFOR RCA).
