McChrystal shoots Biden on sight. The French, too, take it for their rank!
(BRUSSELS2) The article published in Rolling Stones on General McChrystal, commander-in-chief of the American and NATO allied forces in Afghanistan, made noise because it questioned the high political hierarchy of Washington, President Obama and Vice-President Biden, in the lead. What has been commented on less is his attitude, which is just as casual towards his allies, starting with France. The article also begins with a dinner held in Paris, at the Westminster Hotel, where the general is to present the military strategy in Afghanistan to French officials (including ministers). It is loaded, as the journalist tells "to sell the new war strategy to the NATO allies to maintain the fiction that we have of the allies".
Apparently McChrystal is going to this dinner reluctantly. He's not in his element. He states thus: "I'd rather have my ass kicked by a roomful of people than go out to this dinner," He pauses a beat. "Unfortunately," he adds, "no one in this room could do it." And everything is up and running...
A must read!
(last minute) The US President has decided to relieve General Stanley McChrystal of his duties and replace him with General David Petreaus.
