Miliband on track for the High Representative?

(BRUSSELS2) Among the States which have not yet appointed a commissioner (see the updated page), there are only some who could claim the position: Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, Greece, France (eventually). With the settings defined, a name stands out at the top of the list: David Milband, a dyed-in-the-wool socialist, but very acceptable to the right; young, British, convinced European. Only problem: Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister does not seem inclined to present him for the post of commissioner. Curtly he answered the questions of the journalists who questioned him on this point, while the person concerned was at his side: "David Miliband is not a candidate". But this kind of statement is often not very credible. And the real question is whether Miliband really sees his future in Brussels or whether he does not rather dream of being the leader of the Labor opposition (once the current government has fallen and the conservatives returned to power). We can notice some possible outsiders, such as the improbable Bernard Kouchner, or the eternal Irishwoman Mary Robinson... The last day of the European summit, Friday, will be the occasion to "test" this candidacy
