Passing through Tartous… with my big ships
(BRUSSELS2) It could almost be a song... The Black Sea Flotilla's tactical group on its way to the Indian Ocean anti-piracy operation made a very timely stopover in Tartous. The missile cruiser Moskva, the patrol boat Smetlivy, the landing ships Novocherkassk and Saratov and several support ships thus stopped in the Syrian port “ for maintenance operations in accordance with the mission schedule”, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed on Thursday (22 November). They will be " provided by the specialists of the Russian PM-56 technical workshop in Tartous » as pointed out by our colleagues from the Ria Novosti agency.
Maintenance, since we tell you
We suspect that these operations could not be carried out in the home port and that it was absolutely necessary, before passing through the Suez Canal. And, of course, that has nothing to do, nothing to do with the ongoing Syrian civil conflict, the delivery or upgrading of equipment, or even the evacuation of certain others... It is true that the Russians aren't the only ones delivering weapons to Syria. And that no international embargo on the armies strikes the country. So nothing illegal!
