(BRUSSELS2) Developed within the European Defense Agency, the maritime surveillance network should be operational from 1er July. This network - called MARSUR - currently in the test phase - will strengthen maritime surveillance. It may also be used in operations in line with EU foreign and security policy. The MARSUR maritime imagery system has, in fact, been specially designed for crisis management operations outside the EU. " It can be used for the analysis of positioning information or for the geographical targeting of aircraft and buildings favorable for maritime surveillance. “, explained a Finnish naval officer. Fifteen states of the European Union should take part. Six countries (France, Finland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom) are already participating in the test phase.
