(BRUSSELS2) Kosovar graduates will now be able to continue their studies in Serbia as well as in the European Union. Thus 73 diplomas from Kosovo were certified as compliant, for the first time today, by the experts of the European University Association. The latter had indeed received the mandate to evaluate these diplomas within the framework of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue which began in March 2011. This allows these young people to use their university degree to continue their studies and seek employment in Serbia, as elsewhere in Europe. declared Robert Cooper, representing the Union as a “facilitator” in the negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo. " We are proud that this dialogue has produced this small but useful step forward for both Serbs and Kosovars " he added. The dialogue covers three main areas: regional cooperation, freedom of movement and the rule of law.

Another part of the dialogue (signed last July) had been completed on June 1. Acting Head of the EULEX mission, Andy Sparkes, had handed over to Blerim Camaj, the head of the Civil Registry Agency, 52 books listing the birth certificates of Janjevo (in the municipality of Lipjan), certified by the EULEX missions. The total number of books that need to be certified through this process is several thousand. It is therefore " a major project “, according to Andy Sparkes. Similar work has begun in Nis, Serbia, to "Carefully copy all of these files under the supervision of the EULEX mission ". The original civil status books are, in fact, currently in Serbia.
