A new objective for the Americans: to curb the A2/AD threat

(B2) For all those who are passionate about American defense, and even those who are not, they will be able to profitably read – or at least store in their library the new Joint Operational Access Concept (JOAC) which has just been published by the general in US chef, Martin Dempsey. Objective : “define how we will be able to acquire and maintain access anywhere and in any domain: land, air, space, sea and cyber”. As the American Chief of Staff points out: “Our forces can be very formidable. If we are unable to develop our capabilities in these areas, we will not be able to accomplish the mission or meet the needs of our nation. The JOAC highlights how we will face threats of area denial or anti-access (A2/AD) by state or non-state enemies. A2/AD is not new but is (now) a defined feature of our operational environment. Meeting this challenge requires more integration, in all areas and at all levels, more than ever.”
