(BRUSSELS2) The Luxembourg patrol and reconnaissance aircraft (ARP) Detachment are back, at the end of February, in the EU Naval Anti-Piracy Force (EU NAVFOR) in Seychelles. They thus take over from the Swedish Coast Guard aircraft. Merlin IIIC aircraft have been deployed almost continuously since the start of the European operation.

During their previous deployments, CAE Aviation's two Luxembourg aircraft flew a total of 775 missions, representing a total of 4500 flight hours. Missions combining research at sea against piracy, information gathering and ship escorts.

They have been involved in more than 50 maritime incidents, including the detection of Pirate Action Groups at sea, " guiding forces at sea and providing valuable footage of piracy-related incidents” specifies the HQ of Atalanta.
