Maltese-flagged vessel captured in Gulf of Aden
(BRUSSELS2) A Greek ship flying the Maltese flag, the MV Olib G was captured by pirates on September 8 in the eastern part of the Gulf of Aden, announces the EU anti-piracy HQ. The multinational forces had been alerted by another merchant vessel to the approach of a suspicious skiff on the Mv Olib G which was then sailing in the International Transit Corridor (IRTC). This one not answering, a helicopter of the American ship USS Princeton - which is part of the CTF 151 - was directed on the spot. While flying over, the US military spotted two pirates aboard the merchant vessel. This one has a crew of 18 (15 Georgians and 3 Turks).
