B2's life

B2's little sister...

(B2) You have often dreamed of it: having at hand the essentials of B2 on the common security and defense policy, its tools, its missions, its history and its future. On paper ! Today, this project comes to fruition.

We would like to introduce to you... the little brother, or rather, the little sister of B2:

The editions of Villard are intended to publish - in classic (paper) or electronic format - works that lead to a better understanding in the fields of strategy, foreign and defense policy, and European issues...

A first manual soon

We begin with - what is called to become a "reference" - a manual on the Common European Security and Defense Policy », its strengths and its weaknesses, its tools and its missions, its strategies and its future.

This book is written by four hands: André Dumoulin (lecturer at the University of Liège and professor at the Royal Military Institute / Brussels) and Nicolas Gros-Verheyde (editor-in-chief of B2, correspondent for Sud-Ouest in Brussels and former auditor at IHEDN). The first brings you historical perspective to understand, the second gives you a highlight of the news.

Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (and Vice-President of the European Commission) agreed to sign a very political preface, which introduces this book well. You will see...

For regular B2 readers registered with the newsletter – as well as members and subscribers to B2 Pro – you will have the scoop on this book. You will be able to acquire it, by subscription, and receive it, thus, before its public diffusion. You will receive a special message shortly. Book it... (*) You won't have to wait long.

Availability: in spring (to celebrate the anniversary of the Treaty of Rome).

And others .... then

We should continue (next year) by publishing "essentials" (around a key subject), "testimonies" or "stories" of returning from mission. The publication schedule will be determined by a editorial board — made up of journalists, researchers and competent personalities — which will meet every summer in the Alps.

Going back to paper: a daring bet?

The creation of this publishing house is a crazy bet, a little daring... At a time when everyone is running on the internet, B2 is doing the opposite. Alongside the "short time" - provided by the website (B2 Pro), the blog, its alerts (urgent and publication notices), the twitter feed... - we want to have "long time", posed, on paper. To have this perspective, to have in hand, at a glance, the substance of what we can achieve, the book has no equal...

B2 had innovated by being one of the first blogs on Europe, on defence, to achieve the course of change by inventing a participative, successful economic model (via subscriptions and memberships), ahead of a pure player site, which received the "Political and General Information" approval from the CPPAP. We do hope, with you, to transform a new bet today: to combine the two media – that of Bob Kahn and consorts and that of Gutenberg – for the best of both.
