[News] Two merchant ships, a Swiss and a German, hit by Houthi missiles in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden

(B2) The Houthis have not abandoned their attacks contrary to what one might think. In quick succession in the last 24 hours, they have successfully fired several missiles targeting merchant ships.

A Swiss ship hit without much damage

A first ship, the MV Tavvishi, flying the Liberian flag, was hit by an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM). With some damage, but this container ship, owned and operated by Switzerland, continued on its way. A second missile was destroyed by a US-British coalition ship, according to CentCom, the US Central Command.

A German ship hit harder

Two other missiles launched by the Houthis — an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) — hit the MV Norderney, in the Gulf of Aden. Reached in the rear, a fire quickly broke out, but was neutralized. No injuries to report. This cargo ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, owned and operated (Sunship) by a German shipowner, left from Nhava Sheva (India) and with destination Beirut (Lebanon) was then off the coast of Yemen, southeast of Aden, at 11°45 East and 044°17 East.

Operation confirmed by the Houthis

The Houthis confirmed through their spokesperson Yahya Sare'e having carried out two operations “against two ships belonging to companies which violated the decision to prohibit entry into the occupied ports of Palestine”, as well as having also targeted the British destroyer HMS Diamond in the Red Sea.

A strike in Yemen

For their part, the American forces (CentCom) affirm having carried out an operation in Yemen targeting a missile launcher and two Houthi land attack cruise missiles (LACM). Furthermore, a drone (UAS) was destroyed above the Gulf of Aden by American forces.
