An EIGS group leader killed by the French armed forces
(B2) The French General Staff of the Armed Forces announces that it killed Soumara Boura, a terrorist leader, belonging to the Islamic State group in the Greater Sahara (EIGS), Monday, December 20 in Niger, " in close coordination with the Nigerien authorities ". He was spotted near the town of Tillabéri in southwestern Niger (135 kilometers northwest of Niamey) before being shot down by a drone strike. Soumara Boura had notably been " involved in the terrorist action which had executed six French aid workers — specifies the staff — and their two Nigerien companions on August 9, 2020, in the Kouré reserve, east of Niamey.
