(B2) Almost routine for teams on land, at sea or in the air: joint exercises, training of forces foreigners, or training to fight against police corruption

Djibouti. Japanese friendships

October rhymes with joint exercises between the European forces of Operation Atalanta and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The occasion also for a naval parade, in Djiboutian territorial waters, before a debrief, on land, on cooperation in the fight against piracy in the Indian Ocean. Details here

Birni N Konni (Niger). The foot in the stirrup for a new company

For the past few weeks, a new Mobile Border Control Company (CMCF), the second of the National Police, has been working to secure the border area with Nigeria. Its 252 police officers (including 7 women) have undergone intensive six-month training by the support mission for the internal security forces and stabilization of Niger (EUCAP Sahel Niger). Koulikoro (Mali). First aid training

Reacting to massive bleeding, chest wounds or even an animal bite, this is what eight trainees from different Malian infantry battalions learned. This specialized medical education is part of the education-training pillar of the Malian army training mission (EUTM Mali). The objective is that, if necessary, they can stabilize an injured victim, and avoid combat deaths. Details here

Donetsk (Ukraine). Avoiding the risk of police corruption

The traffic police are very exposed to the risk of corruption. While corruption within the criminal police is very difficult to detect. This is why the advisory mission to the Ukrainian internal security forces (EUAM Ukraine) organized a seminar to reflect with the authorities on the tactics to be put in place to remedy this. Supporting examples, such as that of Romania and its general anti-corruption directorate (ACGP). Details here

Ramallah (Palestinian Territories). Expertise requested

EUPOL COPPS acts as a technical adviser to the new working group on integrity, transparency and the fight against corruption. Launched in mid-October by the Palestinian Prime Minister, this working group is chaired by the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC). Details here

Berbera (Somalia - Somaliland). Equip the field teams

In Berbera, the gSomalia's coastal region will be able to react better to crime at sea, thanks to the installation ofa new service station by the Maritime Civil Law Enforcement Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia). The coastguards are also now equipped with a videoconferencing system and office equipment to facilitate online communication, mandatory in times of Covid-19.

Butnir (Bosnia and Herzegovina). pro pace unum

pro pace unum in Latin means United for Peace. This is the message engraved on the deployment medals given to the more than 250 soldiers, airmen and sailors of 12 different nationalities, based at the headquarters of the stabilization operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR Althea). A ceremony presided over by General Reinhard Trischak. Details (and photo gallery) here
