Covid-19. Soldiers deployed to relieve hospitals in Liège

(B2) Sixteen soldiers will be responsible for the reception and care of patients this Monday (2.11) in an emergency wing of the Bois de l'Abbaye hospital center in Seraing (in Greater Liège), in Belgium.

A response to overwhelmed Liège hospitals

The first patients will be cared for there from Tuesday 3 November. In the emergency wing, 26 patients in intermediate care will be taken care of ". This ability " can be extended up to 30 beds ” specifies the Belgian defense in a press release. A response to the request of Liège hospitals seriously impacted by the rebound of the Covid-19 epidemic this autumn.

30 beds, an ambulance and a medical team

In addition, the army will provide two doctors, five nurses and seven paramedics. An ambulance (with two paramedics on board) dedicated to transporting patients who do not require intensive care will also be deployed.
