Concretely, this means that the operation is " able to undertake all actions necessary to fulfill its mandate», in particular the boarding of people suspected of violating the embargo who show uncooperative or opposing behavior.

Operation Irini now has three military ships: the Carlo Margottini (Italy), which houses the Force Command (read: change of flagship to EUNAVFOR Med Irini), the Hamburg (Germany) and Limnos (Greece). A French ship will be added, as a relay, in a few weeks (read: The frigate Latouche Tréville will arrive as reinforcements in Irini. It's time !).

On the air side, we still have four planes supplied by Luxembourg (SW3 Merlin III), Poland (Antonov Bryza 28B1R), France (Falcon 50) and Greece (Embraer 145) + an Italian Predator type drone. French and Italian air and naval resources can, if necessary, be made available. What is called " associated means ».
