Incident along the demarcation line with Abkhazia

(B2) A man was injured while trying to cross the demarcation line with Abkhazia on Sunday, Georgian media report

The incident took place on Sunday (July 5) at the end of the day, on the demarcation line between the independentist province of Abkhazia and Georgia. The man came from the Russian-controlled Gali district and was trying to enter the Tbilisi-administered village of Ganmukhuri, reports the Georgian media, citing the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel.

Abkhazian forces issued a warning to the fugitive and asked him to stop. But the man continued on his way. He was then hit by a bullet in the leg. His condition is stable, according to the head of the Zugdidi hospital, Sulkhan Orzhonia. He was transferred to Kutaisi Hospital. The emergency line has been activated, according to the Georgian State Security Service.

The observation mission of the European Union (EUMM Georgia) did not communicate on the subject. We have interviewed him and are awaiting his response.
