Crash of a Canadian helicopter during a NATO maneuver with 6 soldiers on board

(B2) A Canadian military helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Greece, off the Greek island of Kefalonia, overnight from Wednesday to Thursday (April 30).

This CH-148 Cyclone type helicopter on board the HMCS Fredericton was taking part in NATO maneuvers as part of Operation Reinsurance commanded from Naples HQ.

Six soldiers were on board: four from the Canadian Air Force and two from the Navy a indicated Canadian Minister of Defence, Harjit Sajjan confirming the confirmed death for one of them and five missing.

Several Italian, Greek, Turkish and American means have been engaged for the research, indicates the maritime command of NATO (Marcom).
