At least 600 French soldiers infected with coronavirus

(B2) About 600 soldiers are infected with Covid-19, indicates the French Minister for the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, to the Latest news from Alsace (Strasbourg) and daily newspapers of the Ebra group, on April 4.

An approximate figure recognizes the minister. " It is an order of magnitude, because it is scalable. (1) This has no consequence on the operational aspect, she continues. " We are monitoring this very closely, and adapting our systems accordingly. I specify that our operational posture is not impacted. (2). The French army has one deceased person: " a civil agent attached to the defense infrastructure service, who died a few days ago ».

Two comments

1. The figure announced, related to the total workforce (265.000 personnel), gives a percentage of 0,2%. Which seems very low. It is true that the set of cases in the population (68.000 identified today) gives a percentage of 0,1%. Everyone knows that however this figure is largely underestimated in the absence of a generalized test.

2. As for the operational efficiency, one can have a doubt. The precautionary logic imposes not only minimum distances (for example in vehicles), but also the confinement of anyone who has been in contact with a person tested positive. This implies that entire units can (or should be) confined.
