Two distinct operations, around Mopti

These operations were carried out in two phases. The first took place between February 9 and 10, northwest of Mopti. Drone and Mirage 2000 air strikes, coupled with the engagement of combat helicopters first " neutralized some twenty armed fighters. Among them was an Islamic State in the Greater Sahara cadre. (EIGS) indicates the staff of the armies.

The second action was carried out between February 16 and 17, south of Mopti, in a region where the Katiba Macina is like a fish in water. This time, " airstrikes and helicopter gunfire were accompanied by a helicopter assault. Thirty jihadist fighters were put out of action.

Fifty terrorists killed

In all, these actions - well prepared upstream by intelligence, making it possible to identify terrorist groups with certainty - made it possible to " neutralize about fifty members [of terrorist groups], destroy about thirty motorcycles and two pickups, and finally seize weapons, telephones and electronic equipment ". These two operations with a very heavy material and human toll, weaken the offensive potential of armed terrorist groups in this region “We specify to the EMA.
