How many deaths by IED in Mali in recent years

593 people were victims of the consequences of improvised explosive devices (IED) in Mali in 2018 and 459 - including 137 deaths - in 2019.

MINUSMA had 93 casualties – including 8 dead – in 2018 and 49 – including 5 dead – in 2019. The Malian security forces (FAMa) had 187 casualties in 2018 and 148 in 2019.

The other forces present had a total of 68 casualties in 2018 and 42 in 2019. French troops in Operation Barkhane lost 27 soldiers between 2013 and the end of 2018. IEDs caused the death of seven French soldiers.
