The soldiers, who belong to the Army Legion Brigade, were in a Lynx vehicle (Lince in Spain) when it overturned. This happened on Monday (December 16) at 22:30 p.m. (local time), on the (sometimes chaotic) road from Bamako to Koulikoro.

Two ambulances went to the scene to help the injured. They " are out of danger — we say on the Spanish side — and are still under observation at the 'Rôle2' [the field hospital run by the Germans] at the Koulikoro base », headquarters of the EU training mission of the FAMA, the Malian armed forces.

The legionnaires are part of the fifteenth rotation (MALI XV) of the Spanish military in the EU training mission, which arrived in the field last November 28.
