Better communication, primary necessity for Palestinian justice

It's a four-month job that has just ended. Ten Palestinian participants representing the three main judicial authorities, the High Judicial Council, the Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General's Office, were trained in communications. Each of the three institutions has thus developed, with the support of a Finnish consultant recruited by the European police training mission (EUPOL Copps), its own communication strategy.

The angle chosen: the citizen approach (“ citizen first ”) with the aim of improving access to justice and simplifying access to information for Palestinian citizens. Second objective: harmonize communication in the justice sector so that the three institutions communicate in a coordinated manner.

The practical exercise was the development of two informative brochures. The first brochure concerns the certificates of non-conviction, necessary for employment in the Palestinian public sector, or for obtaining visas and other administrative documents. The second brochure deals with the legalization of documents. The mission undertook to provide 1000 copies of each brochure to the ministry.
