US forces target al-Qaeda training camp in Syria

(B2) Northwestern Syria remains “ a safe haven where leaders of Al-Qaeda in Syria (AQ-S) actively coordinate terrorist activities assures the American command for the area.

US Central Command (better known as CentCom) has just announced on Sunday (June 30) that it has conducted an airstrike against " an Al Qaeda command training camp in Syria » near the province of Aleppo. This operation targeted Al Qaeda operatives considered " responsible for planning operations threatening American citizens, our partners and innocent civilians ". United States " will continue, with its allies and partners, to target Daesh and al-Qaeda to prevent them from using Syria as a refuge » is it specified.

Commentary: Terrorist groups in Syria far from eradicated

This strike confirms on the one hand that the Pentagon does not intend to abandon (totally) the ground in Syria and somewhat contradicts the words of Donald Trump who was delighted to have " eradicated » the caliphate of the Islamic State in Syria... The American president had simply forgotten that before declaring victory, it is necessary to ensure that all the terrorist groups (including Daesch or Al Qaeda) are indeed all neutralized. This is far from being the case as assured by all the sources of information, and as this announcement from the Pentagon proves which, beyond the operational aspects, can be analyzed as a political position.
