German soldier dies in accident in NATO operation in Lithuania

(B2) A German soldier died this Saturday (October 6) in operation following an accident at the Pabradė training site in Lithuania. As part of the forward presence – as part of the NATO operation in the Baltic countries – its armored recovery vehicle was responding to an accident when it hit a tree, indicates the Bundeswehr. The driver, seriously injured in the head by falling branches, could not be brought back to life despite first aid. An investigation was opened by the Lithuanian and German authorities to determine the causes of the fatal accident.
