Antisiranana (Madagascar). Exercises with the Malagasy Navy in the Indian Ocean
The ship's team ESPS Meteoro of the operation in the Indian Ocean (EUNAVFOR) finalized the training of eight sailors from the Malagasy Navy, and their lieutenant, on May 29, specifies the HQ of the EU anti-piracy operation Atalanta. The European training mission of the Malian army (EUTM Mali) has just completed the training of 20 soldiers from the FAMa (the Malian armed forces) for the functions of logistics storekeeper. The Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo), together with the Lincolnshire Police (United Kingdom), provided a Command Resilience Course at the Kosovo Academy for Public Security. On the agenda: the definition of policies, command protocols, a decision-making model with an emphasis on the protection of human rights, the impact on the community, communication, partnership and debriefing strategies. 36 personnel from the police administration who are part of a brand new unit of detectives have just been trained by the EU Advisory Mission to Internal Security Forces (EUAM Ukraine). Trainers from the National Academy of Home Affairs also joined on topics such as the fight against corruption and the effective and professional management of teams. Objective: to reduce bureaucracy and increase the efficiency of the criminal investigation process within detective units. For Ukraine's police chief, Serhiy Kniazev, this training should become a model. The objective is to achieve more efficiency in less time [and ] to present the results of this experiment to the Parliament with the aim of changing the way of working of the criminal police in Ukraine ».
Bethlehem (West Bank). A coordination exercise of the various Palestinian security forces
Two simultaneous serious incidents - a hostage taking and a serious case of theft - take place in two different parts of the city, requiring the intervention of all the security services. This is the main scenario of the exercise which took place in the heart of Bethlehem organized by the EU mission in charge of assisting the Palestinian police (EUPOL Copps). No less than 70 Palestinian civil police officers, along with 50 other officers from seven different security services, took part in this training, with the Joint Operation Center (JOC), the command room of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP). Target as the recounts one of those responsible for the mission: the improvement of command and control systems, as well as coordination between the various security services in Palestine.
