The First European Defense Talks. It's time to register

(B2) The “First European Defense Talks” will take place friday june 1st (from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m.) at the Panthéon Sorbonne University. An event organized by the universities of Paris I and Grenoble (1), with a few others (2), and in which B2 participates...

The principle of these "First interviews" is simple: no blabla, interlocutors who are at the heart of the facts and initiatives and can describe in detail, the content, the issues, the difficulties, in a clear, frank way, avoiding two pitfalls: on the one hand, blissful optimism ("everything is fine, a revolution is happening"), on the other permanent criticism or defeatism ("it's no use, it won't work never, Europeans are incapable”).

The morning will be devoted to drawing up an inventory of the three main innovations in European defence: permanent structured cooperation (the famous PESCO) with Frédéric Mauro (lawyer, GRIP), the Coordinated Annual Defense Review (CARD) with Fabienne Coulomb (Sciences-Po Grenoble), the European Defense Fund, with Anne Fort (DG GROW, European Commission).

You will leave this morning fed with the main data to go and have fun in the Latin Quarter, have a bite to eat, take a souvenir photo, and continue to chat.

The afternoon will outline the major prospects likely to give substance to an integrated defence: firstly, research and integrated capabilities, with Françoise Grossetête (MEP and rapporteur on the European Defense Industrial Development Program or EDIDP for short), Stéphane Abrial (Safran), Jean-Youri Marty (European Defense Agency) and under the leadership of Federico Santopinto (GRIP); second, the military equipment market with Joël Barre (DGA), Antoine Bouvier (MBDA), Pierre Delsaux (DG GROW, European Commission), led by Edouard Simon (Confrontations).

we will do a little 'Retex' of the 'big' CSDP operations to learn a lesson from the Brexit era (with yours truly) and some veterans of European missions and operations (the names are still awaiting confirmation): the general of Kermabon (EULEX Kosovo), General Ponties (EUFOR RCA) and VAE Labonne (EUNAVFOR Atalanta).

Before welcoming... a surprise guest, unless he (or she) chooses to make the introduction... And we go for a well-deserved refreshment.
