A characteristic pirate attack

According to maritime sources, an oil tanker was attacked, on Saturday (March 31), in the early hours of the morning, in the maritime corridor between the city of Al Mukalla (Yemen) and the island of Socotra (position 13:58.1 N - 051 -25.3E). Two skiffs with two armed pirates in each boat chased and closed in close to the Kriti Spirit, a vessel flying the flag of Liberia and belonging to a Greek company Avin.

The replica of the security guards

The alarm has been given. Doubt about their intentions was not really allowed. Ladders were seen in the skiffs. And, about 100 meters from the tanker, the hijackers started shooting in its direction. Armed guards aboard the tanker returned fire. " The pirates then abandoned the attack and moved away ". " The whole crew is safe and sound”, we specify. The vessel, however, suffered minor damage from gunfire ».
