The body of the Georgian who died in South Ossetia handed over to his family

(B2) The body of Archil Tatunashvili, this Georgian who died in troubled conditions in South Ossetia (read: Renewed tension in South Ossetia. A Georgian who died in prison) was finally able to be returned to his family, the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) HQ confirmed on Tuesday (March 20) evening.

A positive point in this delicate file which has been, throughout the last weeks, followed by the mission, in particular by facilitating the dialogue on the direct line managed by EUMM on this affair.

In a statement, EUMM Georgia reaffirms that it is " ready to support ongoing investigations and facilitate discussions through the Incident Response and Prevention Mechanism (IPRM) and hotline ».

The mission also calls for a rapid agreement between the participants on the resumption of the meetings of the mechanism for the prevention of incidents which take place regularly in Ergneti, co-chaired by the EUMM and the OSCE.
