Romanian soldier killed in Kandahar attack

(B2) A Romanian soldier, Corporal Mădălin Stoica, engaged in the NATO operation (Resolute Support) was killed in an attack in Kandahar (southern Afghanistan) on Tuesday (September 12), while two others were injured (Corporal Ionel Buzea and Private Ionel Toma). He died of his injuries after being evacuated, seriously injured, by helicopter.

The soldiers were in a convoy of four MRAP vehicles (with mine protection) when a suicide car drove into their convoy and crashed into their vehicle. This was completely destroyed.

This technique, suicide vehicle, is commonly used by the Taliban and other terrorist groups against military convoys in particular. A similar incident took place in Daman, near Kandahar airport, on August 2, causing several casualties among NATO forces.
