Handshake: challenge met for Macron

(Credit: Elysee)

(B2) For Emmanuel Macron this Thursday was an important moment. With his first participation in a NATO meeting – which he has stubbornly called a “mini-summit” – he entered the club of world leaders. He succeeded where even Angela Merkel was put in difficulty: to survive with dignity the handshake with Donald Trump during the traditional photo sitting in armchairs, facing the press.

No crushed hand for Macron...

We all remember the reaction of the Japanese Shinzo Abe, after the 19 seconds of his vigorous meeting with Donald Trump. Since then, Donald Trump has had the reputation of "crushing his hands"... Has the American president found an opponent to beat him at his own game?

Enthusiasm of American journalists

The serious journalist The Guardian charged described the confrontation in detail: "They shook hands for a long time. Each president gripped the other's hand with tremendous intensity, their knuckles turned white, their jaws clenched and their faces tensed up.".
