(BRUSSELS2) Airbus has delivered its first A400M to the Spanish Air Force. The ceremony took place at the Airbus factory in Seville on Thursday (December 1). Spain becomes the sixth nation to put the new European transport aircraft into service.

This is the first delivery, out of the 28 ordered. Spain will receive 14 aircraft by 2022, and the last 13 will be delivered from 2025. The Spanish fleet will be based in Zaragoza in northeastern Spain with the C212, C295 and CN235. For the Spanish Air Force, the A400M will replace the aging C-130 fleet.
