Slovakia hosts refugees from Austria

(BRUSSELS2 to Gabcikovo) This is one of the examples that the Slovak government of Robert Fico intends to promote. " We don't want no obligation to welcome refugees or to 'relocate' them according to the official terminology, insist the Slovaks. But we are doing our part.

According to an agreement reached last year, Slovakia receives and accommodates up to 500 asylum seekers who have applied in Austria, pending their processing. A formula found to relieve the pressure of Austria's main refugee center in Traiskirchen. They are housed in the former dormitories of Gabcikovo University.

It was not without difficulty, according to the Slovak press. The Syrian refugees for the most part complained about the reception conditions: no school for the children, a doctor who comes by from time to time, but not on a regular basis, the kitchen closed at night, which does not allow warming bottles at night, etc. Problems due to the OSR company in charge of the camp replied the Slovak authorities.
