(BRUSSELS2 in Bratislava) Visiting Bratislava in the coming months, don't miss the exhibition European Stars - Miró & CoBrA which has just opened (and runs until November 13). It is located a little outside the city, in Danube Museum. So plan a little time to get there *

MottoCobra 20160702_154435In these turbulent times for Europe, certain works exhibited take on a particular resonance such as this Banquet of Idols by Rancinan – revisiting all those who made the media scene from Jesus to Madonna or from Mother Theresa to Einstein – or a “ end of the beginning by Martin Varholik or a Red Wedge by Jankovic. As for the motto of Cobra defined by Constant " we work for tomorrow's world », it has a very contemporary tone.

The original boat-shaped building is located on the banks of the Danube, and several works fit perfectly into the landscape, to the point that they could be mistaken for realistic paintings or portraits. Some works are placed in the garden, others are nestled in certain corners, including on the roof of the building.

In addition to the works of Miró (paintings, paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, tapestries, etc.) and those of the group SculptureDanube 20160702_151733CoBrA (Alechinsky, Appel, Constant, Corneille, Niewenhuys, Henning Pedersen, etc.) the interest of the visit is to discover Slovak artists (Rudolf Fila, Jozef Jankovic, Ivan Pavle…), Czech, Hungarian (Ilona Keserü), Macedonian (Kiro Urdin)… which are also worth a close look. In total, around a hundred works are on display, coming from a loan from the Joan Miró family, from the Meulensteen collection, from the Amstelveen Museum (Netherlands).
