A former member of Zaventem in Ramallah to help Palestinians take the leap

(B2 in Ramallah) Palestine has a good chance of integrating Interpol, the international organization for police cooperation, by the end of the year. At least she is preparing for it. There are still a whole series of technical and legislative obstacles to overcome. And, to help the Palestinian authorities to bring themselves up to the required international level, a man... a former chief security inspector at Zaventem airport (Brussels).

With a touch of Molenbeek accent

International police cooperation, Joeri Van Nuffel, knows the practical and legal workings of it well, having practiced it for a few years. This Flemish Belgian, from the Belgian federal police, joined the ranks of Interpol in Pristina, Kosovo in 2012. The one who, with all the self-irony says of him that he speaks French with an accent that he qualifies , himself, from "Molenbeekois", then made the connection between Belgium and Interpol, before joining the European support mission for the Palestinian police (EUPOL COPPS), where he now serves at his headquarters.

Legislative coach!

In Ramallah, alongside his Palestinian counterparts, he leads what can be called a veritable coach legislative. The task is not simple. On the one hand, Palestine must have a legal framework in which the other Interpol States can have confidence. They are the ones who, in the end, will give the green light to its membership ... or not (Read: Palestine wants to join Interpol. An obstacle course, a political issue).

And the exchange of information

It is, on the other hand, to raise the technical level of the Palestinian police, to prepare it to reach the level of a state capable of exchanging information. Three-quarters of international cooperation is, in fact, the exchange of information. "It's the most important thing in the end".

  • So Hamas, and by extension, all the terrorist movements in Gaza and elsewhere, will have access to highly confidential files, people, organizations... Have you gone crazy?
The Belgians and Europe in general, braid the rope to hang themselves.

  • The integration of Ramallah into Interpol has only one goal! Demonize Israel and be able to attack it on all possible diplomatic fronts. Instead of trying to educate the population in peace, Mister Abbas prefers to avoid negotiations and place himself as an international victim.
