(B2) Yes! The famous medals used to reward the worthy servants of His Majesty would no longer be "made in UK" but "made in France" (in French in the text). A real scandal... This is the Labor MP for Birmingham, Ian austin, and former cycling journalist, who raised the hare in the House of Commons.

A British medal made in France what a horror!

« People in the Midlands are furious to learn that the UK has contracted with a French company.

NB: This is the house Arthus Bertrand which has been retained as one of the suppliers for certain highly rated medals on the British market such as the Order of the Baththe Order of St Michael and St George, And the EPC (1).

“Imagine Mr. Speaker that you open your “Distinguished Service Order” (one of the most famous distinctions across the Channel) or your CBE  (1) and you see: "Made in France". Ugh what horror! Yet another of the evils of the single market, although it is well known..."We are the best in the world".

World champions !

« Our factories in the Midlands are the best in the world, the best in the world “continues the unspeakable MP applauded to the breaking point by his co-religionists. It is a tradition in the House of Commons. And it is the Prime Minister, David Cameron who, in the end, finds himself at the heart of the vindictiveness of this pure Labor Party, very close to Gordon Brown (he was his political adviser from 1999 to 2005 when his mentor was Minister for finance). " When you get back to Downing Street, call the minister's office and fix this scandal! (2).

Made in England or Made in Wales?

« I did not know replied the Prime Minister, a bit ironically however. Are Birmingham's factories the best in the world? Or those of Wales (where the Royal Mint is located)? ... But he is in favor of the made in UK. " I'm in favor of the fact that if we can make something in Britain, we can make it in Britain."

Comment: An excellent subject to discuss with François Hollande this Thursday in Amiens, during the Franco-British summit. Personally, I will be David Cameron, I will go further. I will immediately return to Brussels to request an emergency meeting of the European Summit and request a codicil to the conclusions of the February summit to introduce an additional exception... for royal medals. The refugee crisis will wait. Such an important question must be settled immediately!

Watch the video on Channel 4. A delight !

(2) "Imagine it, Mr Speaker, imagine it: you open your Distinguished Service Order or your CBE and it says 'made in France'. (...) I've visited Midlands medal manufacturers in Birmingham's jewelery quarters. They' re the best in the world. (...) You should go back to Downing Street, call in the Cabinet Office minister and get this scandal sorted out.”
