(B2) The frigate ITS Carabiniere has become the flagship of the EU anti-piracy operation (EUNAVFOR Atalanta) commanded by Rear Admiral Barbieri, taking over from the ship ITS Libeccio. I'ITS Carabiniere is one of the last ships of the Italian Navy (she was engaged in April 2015). The the class Bergamini is a of the four type ships FREMM, frigate versatile, conceived by DCNS / Armaris et Fincantieri for the marines French and Italian. 144 meters long, it can reach a speed of 27 knots and is equipped with a helicopter Augusta Bell 212.
