(BRUSSELS2) In this deleterious atmosphere at the European level, where Greece and Europeans pass the buck of failure, a fresh wind has come from Vienna. No need to deny it. One could say to oneself by seeing the message of Federica Mogherini, announcing his departure from Vienna: another bad news. No... The Iranian nuclear negotiation between the P5+1 and the Iranians is not over yet. But it is on an interesting path, as told by the head of European diplomacy who chaired the meeting.

“The political will is there”

“I had a bilateral meeting with Minister Zarif, following our meeting on Monday in Luxembourg, then with John Kerry and all the others. We also had a ministerial meeting, at E3+3. I would say the political will is there. I saw it from all sides. We have therefore instructed our negotiating teams to start working immediately tonight on a text and to try to close all questions in order to translate the political agreement that we reached in Lausanne into texts that are strong enough for the next days. Ministers will return here in the next few days as work on the text has progressed to finalize the agreement.

Some flexibility beyond June 30

“We are sticking to the June 30 deadline. Corn we are ready to interpret flexibly as we have already done in Lausanne. » she added. " If we need to have a couple more extra days, it's not the end of the world. But it is very clear that the deadline will remain between the end of June / the beginning of July. (...) So there will be no extension. We all agree on that. »

A few days to complete the negotiation

“We will, we hope, finalize in the next few days. Everyone is very aware of the fact that we now have the conditions to close the deal. And we have to use those hours and days to do it. »

NB: Any resemblance to an existing or having existed situation is of course totally coincidental, as we say.
