The French press in solidarity with Charlie Hebdo

(B2) All of the French publishers published a press release after the attack on Charlie Hebdo.

The community of press publishers is in shock after the attack of extreme cowardice and gravity perpetrated today against its colleague Charlie Hebdo.

All the publishers express their greatest indignation and deep emotion, and wish to mark their deep solidarity with the Charlie Hebdo teams, and their support for the victims, including the two police officers who provided protection for the editorial staff, and their loved ones.

Today, this terrorist attack is the most serious that France has had to suffer in decades.

By attacking an editorial staff, the authors of this particularly heinous act targeted the freedom of the press. They thus attack freedom of expression and democracy, fundamental republican values shared by all.

The honor of the publishing community is to affirm more than ever its solidarity with its friends at Charlie Hebdo for the defense and illustration of freedom of the press.

It is also to declare that she will never give in to threats and intimidation made to the intangible principles of freedom of expression.

The editors and all the employees of the French press send their most sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to all the employees of Charlie-Hebdo.
