EULEX Kosovo. Opacity reigns

2014-11-03 17.42.48(BRUSSELS2) MEPs are currently holding a closed session on the situation in the EULEX Kosovo mission (read: The EULEX mission grappling with a “dirty” affair).

The spokesperson for the new High Representative Federica Mogherini had promised at midday during the regular press briefing with journalists to act “it's clear“. In fact, it should rather read “in complete opacity”.

This closed session without any press conference being organized at any given time on this matter is a bad blow to the serenity of information. The method used by the European authorities – “move around there is nothing to see” – does not really help to extinguish media interest. On the contrary, it excites him. She gives pride of place to all the information and all the rumors. Like all cases, this type of attitude often contributes to blowing up the house where it is sometimes just a big firecracker… (see the Cresson affair).
