Pirates still in action in the eastern Indian Ocean?

(B2) A merchant ship was "approached" by suspected pirates on Thursday (September 25), east of the Indian Ocean, we learned from a maritime source. The ship was then very close to the Strait of Hormuz, between the United Arab Emirates and the coast of Pakistan. A skiff with 3 people on board, weapons and spearfishing equipment clearly visible, then approached very close to the ship, just 10 meters away. The ship was able to dodge its pursuers.

Another suspicious approach in the Red Sea

Another "suspicious" approach was reported the next day at the other end of the area, in the Red Sea, 9 suspicious skiffs approached at a fast speed (20 knots) a bulk carrier coming from different directions. The captain rang l'alarm, makes give speed, triggering the on-board alarms, activating the tubing of fire. 12 flares were even fired. With no apparent success. The skiffs continued their approach and approached à 20 - 30 meters of the ship. Lsecurity team on board then did warning shots ; the skiffs then have arrested their approach. But no weapon or scale have been sighted on board " because of darkness” indicates the Piracy Monitoring Center (IMB) of the International Chamber of Commerce, which has decided not to include this incident in its statistics.
