(B2) The European Commission has decided to increase by six million euros the humanitarian aid granted to refugees fleeing the Central African Republic. This aid is in addition to the 4 million euros already granted since the start of the crisis. “ The dire situation in the Central African Republic is causing a crisis across the region, and as the number of refugees continues to rise, there is little chance that they will be able to return home. They are dependent on our humanitarian aid to survive » underlines Kristalina Georgieva, European Commissioner responsible for Humanitarian Aid. According to estimates, the current crisis in the Central African Republic has already forced more than 100.000 people to seek refuge in a neighboring country.
