Cyber NATO under attack. First Russian retaliatory measure?

(B2) It is a small message arrived by twitter from Oana (the NATO spokesperson) which points it out (or confirms it this morning). NATO sites were indeed the subject of a cyber attack this morning. But everything is being repaired. And " the integrity of NATO systems and data is not compromised”.

Comments : the cyber attack, like the revelation of eavesdropping, is now part of the panoply of first-rate military and diplomatic instruments, used in the event of a crisis to show one's determination. It is to diplomacy what a reminder of ambassadors is, and to the military what a warning shot is in the navy, or even a little more, depending on whether the shooting is more or less adjusted, or more in less "in the air". The advantage of this "tool" is, in fact, to allow it to be graduated in a fairly fine way: just a cyber-attack, just to show that we "can", or a little more, to reach, or even damage more seriously, the opponent's data. Which can handicap him more or less severely. The completely anonymous or quasi-transparent aspect of the attack is another way of measuring the attack. Either way, the goal is achieved. The adversary must first of all waste some time and some means to seal the breaches, then explain publicly why it was attacked, finally review part or all of its cyber-defense policy in the medium term. All without risking the life of a single man / woman in the field.
