Deputy transfer of command to Eunavfor Atalanta

(B2) A Spanish Rear Admiral, Bartolomé Bauzá, took over Friday (January 17) from his German counterpart, Rear Admiral Jean Martens, as Deputy Operations Commander (DCOM) for the anti-piracy operation of the European Union (EUNAVFOR Atalanta). CA Martens joined the operation in July 2013. He was applauded by all the EU Navfor command staff present in Northwood when he left. He will resume in Germany his command of the 1st German flotilla.

Born in 1956, Bartolomé Bauzá joined the Spanish Navy in 1975. Throughout his service at sea he held a number of naval appointments and commanded four warships, including the frigate ESPS Balearic Islands (2002-2003) and the landing ship ESPS Galicia (2007-2008).
