Whoops… Another weapon stolen in Libya (Update)
(BRUSSELS2, exclusive) The private guards (of Argus) who ensure the protection of the EUBAM Libya mission (the border surveillance mission) would not only be done stolen a weapon (a Glock 17) during an attack by one of his guards in a service station (official version) Read: Some weapons missing in Libya… It happens. They would also have, according to our information, suffered another loss, a little more serious, a few weeks later. A fact that remained curiously quite discreet.
This would have happened during the kidnapping of the Prime Minister at the Hotel Corinthia on October 10 by militias. Some attackers would have burst into the watchkeeper's room (the watch room) and would have grabbed what was there. Various materials including a weapon. This weapon, which would not be a simple pistol but a more powerful weapon, was apparently in the room and not in a safe as provided for by the regulations. The attackers just had to help themselves. The only guard who was present in the room couldn't do anything. Caramba!
(UPDATE) The spokesperson for the High Representative denied all of these facts. However to colleagues from the radio Dutch, he would have held another version confirming the theft of two bulletproof vests belonging to Argus Security but denying the theft of a weapon. EUBAM Libya Head of Mission, Antti Hartikainen, who was in front of the European Parliament did not mention this incident.
