In the Central African Republic: extreme vigilance required of journalists

Press Logo(B2) The Quai d'Orsay and the French Ministry of Defense have issued a warning message to all journalists who would like to go to the Central African Republic. A rather rare message in its solemnity. "The security situation in the CAR requires everyone to be extremely careful" is it written. " If you have to go to the CAR, we ask you to exercise the utmost vigilance, to keep yourself informed of developments in the situation and to respect the security instructions given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France in Bangui and our forces on the spot who are able to tell you the areas where you should not go. » And they follow these recommendations with a warning: Failure to comply with these elementary rules of caution would jeopardize not only your safety, but also the safety of those who would come to your aid. » To this they add: “the health risks resulting from the conflict and the malfunctioning of public services » which may exist.
