(BRUSSELS2) 11 police officers from Kosovo, from the special operations unit (formerly known as "ROSU") have been accused by the international prosecutor in the court of Pristina of ill-treatment while performing their duties (*) , announced Thursday (December 12) the European mission EULEX (rule of law) Kosovo.

“The charges relate to violence allegedly committed on January 8 by these agents against ten Kosovo Serb detainees, who were injured” reports the mission in a press release. These Serbs had been arrested by the agents on January 7, during the Orthodox Christmas, and had spent the night in the detention center in Pristina, before being released the following day after a court appearance. The alleged violence took place during the escort from the Detention Center to court by officers from the Special Operations Unit.

“The investigation was carried out by a joint team involving researchers from the Kosovo Police Police Inspectorate and EULEX and led by the International Prosecutor” adds Eulex
