(BRUSSELS2) The training of the third Malian battalion by the European mission (EUTM Mali) officially ended on Saturday 7 December. During ten weeks of training, the "Sigui" battalion " improved their combat know-how as well as their ability to plan and conduct operations in a realistic tactical framework, which they will be able to face after their deployment », announces a press release. The last training exercise took place from December 2 to 4, in the northern region of Koulikoro “ where enemy forces had seized the town of Banamba, from which they were able to launch raids, thus threatening the town of Koulikoro ». Two Mirage 2000 fighter planes from the French Serval force took part in the exercise, as part of the evaluation of the battalion's TACP teams (tactical air control patrol). The exercise was a success. The Sigui battalion has proven its ability to conduct an autonomous coordinated maneuver at the level of a combined arms tactical group (GTIA), within the framework of an offensive led by armed elements.
