Hawks grounded after collision
(B2) The Finnish Ministry of Defense has decided to extend the flight ban on its (British-made) Hawk military trainer aircraft until further notice. At least until the end of the investigation which should take several weeks.
Two Hawk training planes have, in fact, collided during an exercise, Wednesday (November 13), a little after noon, in the west of the country not far from the air base of Kauhava. One pilot died in the crash, the other was injured after ejection and hospitalized. But his life is not in danger, said the Finnish defense.
One of the planes was located in Lestijärvi, about 100 km northeast of Kauhava, and the other near Salamajärvi National Park in Perho, according to Finnish TV reports.
