(B2) The United Nations Security Council has decided to authorize African Union Member States to extend until 31 October 2014 the deployment of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Decision taken, Tuesday (Nov 12), unanimously.

Resolution 2124 (2013) calls for an increase in the number of blue helmets, from 17 to 731, effective from January 22. The African Union had indicated that it needed 126 infantry soldiers and 2014 troops Support. To fight against Al-Shabaab, the African mission will be able to provide "exceptional" support to the Somali national army " by providing food and water rations, fuel, means of transport, tents and means of medical evacuation inside the theater of operations ».
